Community rules
Open Source Village is a place to make things together. These rules apply to everything you post in the village apps (chat, directory, marketplace, photos, calendar, polls) and to how you treat people at the event. [TO FILL: link to the event's code of conduct, if there is a separate one.]
Not allowed
- Harassment and hate: insults, threats, intimidation, unwanted sexual attention, and content that attacks people for who they are.
- Other people's privacy: posting someone's private information, or photos of people who did not agree to be photographed or shared. Ask before you take a picture of someone.
- Illegal content, and offers of anything illegal.
- Scams and fraud: fake offers, taking tokens without delivering, pretending to be someone else.
- Spam: repeated, unrelated or automated posts, and advertising that is not part of the village.
- Selling for money in the marketplace without the organisers' agreement: the marketplace is for village tokens and for giving. [TO FILL: confirm or change.]
- Explicit or violent content.
Reporting
- In the directory, the marketplace and photos, use the Report button on a person, an offer, a photo or a comment. Choose a reason (spam, harassment or hate, illegal content, scam or fraud, other) and add a note if it helps.
- In the chat, and for anything that happens in person, contact a steward: [TO FILL: how to reach a steward, e.g. the steward desk, a phone number, a chat name].
- Reports are confidential. Only the stewards see them and who sent them; the person you report is not told who reported them.
- In an emergency, contact [TO FILL: emergency contact at the venue] or call 112.
What stewards do
Every report goes to all stewards. A steward looks at it and does one of these:
- Hide the content: it disappears from the directory, the marketplace and photos for everyone.
- Dismiss the report, when nothing breaks the rules.
- Revoke the pass of the person responsible, for serious or repeated breaks of the rules. Their account stops working, their pass is no longer valid at the door, they can no longer post, and what they posted disappears from the directory, the marketplace and photos.
[TO FILL: whether a warning comes first, how the person is told, and how to appeal a decision.]
Stewards do not see private chat messages. If someone harasses you in private messages, tell a steward and show them the messages yourself.
Your own content
You can delete your own offers and photos in the apps at any time. Leaving the directory is a tick on "Your entry".
